Virtual Learning

Having Fun with Virtual Learning

We want all our students to experience the ‘Joy of Learning’ at CHIS even when learning online! Though we could not be in the classroom together with all of our students, we were still able to teach them through fun and engaging activities and experiments.

Here’s what we got up to in our virtual classrooms.

Shake It!

Every new term in Primary school begins with an IPC Entry Point, an activity at the beginning of each unit of work that introduces the work to follow in an exciting manner. The activity given to our Year 3 students for their Entry Point got them excited about the new unit! There’s no better way to get things started than by shaking milk to make your own ice cream. The aim of this activity was for students to investigate the change in states of matter.

Huge thanks to our parents for helping us carry out these activities while we conducted online learning.

Well done Year 3 students and teachers!

Paper Origami

The Year 3 students had a blast when they were challenged to follow step by step instructions to make origami. This activity was a part of their English Unit on Instruction Writing.

We taught them how to follow folding instructions and how to give instructions to someone else. With their origami of their choice, they folded it and wrote down the instructions. We can’t wait for them to bring their brilliant pieces of work to class so we can decorate our classrooms with colourful origami.
Keep up the good work!

Water Cycle

Year 5 students have been learning about the water cycle in their Science lessons. Even with virtual learning, science experiments still continue!

Students used a zip lock bag partly filled with water, drew the processes of the water cycle on it and taped it to a window. They watch as the heat from the sun causes the water to evaporate. When the water vapour reaches the top of the bag, it condenses into water droplets that run down the bag to join the rest of the water. What an inventive way for the students to explore the processes of the water cycle.

Well done Year 5 students and teachers!
